Don’t hesitate to purchase this book! I am a busy professional that loves to read self help books and lately I feel like all the self help books were delivering the same message. I was missing something. One night I was scrolling through my Instagram feed and came across the Muslim woman’s manifesto and I was not disappointed! This book is so potent and I highly recommend it!!
Thank you, Kashmir Maryam, for presenting Muslim women in such a beautiful light. Americans seldom see Islam as a religion of peace and love, and few know that Muhammad, peace be upon him, was one of the first liberators of women. Now they will realize that Jews, Christians, and Muslims all worship the same God of Abraham. I like how the author talks about cleaning house and removing all toxic energy from our lives. She identifies toxic people as jealous and highly critical of others, and also as unhappy themselves, and talks about our setting boundaries. Each chapter has an ACTION EXERCISE section, and I like the author's way of directing us on how to deal with all aspects of our lives, especially by using prayer. I love her poetry.
I enjoyed learning about the concepts of success as seen through the eyes of a Muslim woman. The author's messages were clear and profound and The Muslim Woman' Manifesto was a fascinating insight into a different culture to my own. "Pious. Powerful. Productive" are the key words. Discussing the secrets of the successful, she has put on paper an easy to understand plan for empowerment. A good job.
In "The Muslim Woman's Manifesto," author Kashmir Maryam charts a middle path between traditionalist and modernist Muslim practice. Her book rings with sincerity and a pure heart. Most of the manifestos I am familiar with are revolutionary in nature. This manifesto is less so. Encouraging Muslim women, it offers good practical common sense advice on how to navigate the world. It extols virtues like patience and perseverance and emphasizes the supremacy of spiritual goals over worldly ones. Though this is a deeply spiritual book, the advice it offers is easily generalizable to those of other faith traditions.
A book that celebrates women, especially, Muslim women. A book to inspire, motivate and encourage all women. Very well-done Kashmir. Though, a man, but I do recognize the potential of this book to be a force for good starting with women. Whether you are a woman from the middles east or from the west. The same principle applies to all. For transparence, I got the ARC of this book.
You can buy as many Gary Vee, James clear or any entrepreneurship books. It will not beat this book as contains the key ingredients. I needed this book at an important stage. And I cannot recommend this book enough, it’s amazing and highly educational for both Deen and dunya !
A book for every Muslimah no matter what age ! It is a guide to help women understand ourselves and to improve our relationship with our Creator. These steps will lead to a successful and happy life. My favorite chapter is make yourself A Priorty. . At the end of the book is a beautiful poem written by the author. She is also an excellent Poet. I am purchasing another copy as a gift
I absolutely loved listening to this Manifesto! It awakened parts of me that were asleep and made me think deeply about my current life an spirituality. I love how the author gave not only Islamic examples but real life examples. This is good because it gives us a practical way to exercise spiritual growth into our lives. Great read Al-Hamdillah!
Kashmir Mariam’s epic work is centred on unique literary ability. Her poetical work is filled with a great command of the English language on salient and imperative issues relatable to audiences of divergent backgrounds. Her spoken word poetry on YouTube is equally impressive. She takes you on an exhilarating journey through start to finish. An indispensable read. Congratulations on this noble endeavour. Got this book as a gift and I cannot put it down! I searched it so I can order some more of her books. So surprised it doesn’t have more reviews. If you’re reading this, I strongly recommend buying this! Maryam makes great points and uses excellent+relatable examples- for both Muslims and non-Muslims. So well written mashAllah.
This book provided several methods on developing personal and spiritual/religious success as a Muslim woman. In light of the current Coronavirus pandemic throughout the world, the concepts expressed along with the exercises at the end of each chapter helps to deal with the rapidly changing social environment. An easy but powerful read!
This book is so inspiring and has really put me in the right mindset to achieving my goals. I have been searching for a book like this but have not come across one until now. I love how this books focuses on not just this life but also the after life and how we can be successful in both worlds. I recommend everyone to read it. Being a young college student and in the process of finding/building myself this book has given me tools to find my purpose and look deeper within myself. Kashmir does an amazing job in getting you to think deeper about yourself and the world around you. Her words of wisdom will have you wanting to read more. She does an excellent job relating to her reader and includes her own personal experiences. I personally felt like this book was written for me! I also love and benefited from the exercises that are after each chapter. This book is an excellent gift for anyone looking to grow. I highly recommend!
Amra - i don't usually read books i read this book it was beautifully written . i can tell the author put her heart into this book . i learned to be more grateful and everything happens by the will of Allah and we are absolutely nothing . definitely read this book you won't be disappointed
This book is a must read! I am very picky with the type of self-help books I choose to read and there are so many reasons why this one was amazing. For one, many of the self-help books are not catered to Muslim women but this one is and helps navigate both our current life and the afterlife. I love how she talks about “middle-ground” because as a working mom who also runs her own business, things can get hectic. Today’s society forces you to be one or the other but Kashmir gives you a guide on how to find balance through it all. Another important topic she touches on is how to use our time wisely. I find myself misusing my time a lot and on page 68 she uses the Fajr prayer as an example on how managing our time can be truly beneficial. Lastly, I love the action exercises because it allowed me to not only read the book and put it away. Instead, it made me dive deeper into each chapter with a goal. This book is really well written and easy to follow!
Maryam’s manifesto I feel like is a nurturing book which strives Muslims to develop tactical steps to succeed in this life and the next life. It goes in depend about the reality of this life we’re living in temporarily and reminds us of the next life we should prepare more for. I enjoyed reading this book because it was well written and clear to understand. I was able to do several of self reflections throughout the book. It helped me realize I need to invest time in myself by caring for myself with the same quality I like care for others. Her choice of words are strong and inspiring which develops a sense of self awareness and a beautiful guide of persuasion to lean even more towards the right path. It’s a spectacular book and worth reading!
This is such a powerful and transformative read! In this book, Kashmir Maryam eloquently discusses numerous aspects of a Muslim woman's life in such a nuanced and comprehensive way and shares insightful guidance as to how we, as Muslim women in today's world, can rise above the challenges we face by reflecting upon the teachings of the Qur'an and Hadith and properly applying these teachings to our lives as modern Muslim women. In a world that seems to be pulling us in every direction and can prove to be overwhelming as we strive to balance our goals and pursuits for this life and those for the hereafter, I found this book to be extraordinarily refreshing and such a powerful guide as to how we can recalibrate our compass and reset our priorities so that we can live a fulfilling life that will allow us to thrive emotionally, personally, and professionally in this world and achieve the ultimate success in the hereafter. This is a must-read for all Muslim women trying to better understand how to live a successful, meaningful and happy life. I will definitely be recommending this book to all my friends!
I absolutely loved this book. Some of my favourite chapters included "Clean House" and "Revolutionize Your Marriage." It empowered me to recognize the signs of toxic relationships and how to spring clean our relationships for the better. I thoroughly enjoyed the concepts that explored motherhood and how as women we have a choice to raise our children. Sometimes as a woman I would feel useless for not joining the workforce when I was raising my daughter. However, after reading this, I felt confident that I fulfilled my responsibilities to her. Moreso, I loved that when I read this manifesto, I saw this as advice from a sister. It has been a great companion to me and a great advisor. This was an excellent read 🙂
Kashmir’s words in this manifesto have the power to inspire a sense of urgency and renewed individual purpose in everyone, from the most devout believers to those struggling to find the straight path. This manifesto, as a response to a riveting tragedy, seamlessly balances sociological phenomena, Islamic text, personal experience and practical exercises to create a reliable pathway to becoming a well-rounded, empowered and, above all, successful Muslima. This manifesto dissects what success truly means by delving into various factors that constitute the individual, such as one's disposition, attitude and habits, in a way that is meaningful to one's daily practice and offers concrete steps towards improvement in these varying facets of one's life. It is personal, it is practical, and it is, without a doubt, worth the read!
As there are few guides and self-help books written for the specific demographic of Muslim women, Kashmir Maryam consolidates Islamic teachings with self-improvement tips to examine and solve personal challenges. Muslim men can equally benefit from reading this self-help book. Kashmir Maryam strategically incorporates Qu’ranic ayaat (verses) and statements of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as a response to the common difficulties that we undergo to highlight where Muslim women’s focus should be. She beautifully mentions deep, personal anecdotes and shares them with the members of the audience so that they can learn and apply them to the issues or dilemmas with which they are confronted. In the book, she provides helpful advice on the need for women to prioritize themselves and to make their prayer a foundation through which they can build a stronger life. Throughout the book, the examples that Maryam gives are original, resourceful, and innovative. I sincerely appreciated her unique perspective on certain topics such as finding our passion and eliminating toxic people from our lives. Maryam clearly made great efforts to express her own voice and articulate her own authentic ideas. A common issue that many of us encounter is not utilizing our time properly, so she emphasizes the importance of time in Islamic terms and contributes excellent tips on how we can manage it. Once again, the message of this book is very much needed for Muslim women and Muslim men alike. In today’s time, we often struggle with the the concept of women’s roles in society; Maryam does a superb job of speaking about the topic in a balanced way. In chapter 7, Maryam sheds light on why a successful marriage is important and pinpoints the genuine characteristics of marriage, which is contrary to the message that we are accustomed to seeing in popular culture and social media. In addition, she underscores the Islamic concept of womanhood through examples of several pious women of the past. Overall, she gives a fresh, wholesome perspective on conventional problems that we face in our daily lives and offers creative and practical solutions to solving them. In this truly one of a kind book, Kashmir Maryam sequentially crafts the issues in her words, states her thoughts based on her experience, and meticulously weaves in the Islamic principles that we can effectively follow and implement to change ourselves. Because Maryam successfully keeps the Qu’ran and the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) example as the backbone of her book, she has, thus, designed a manual that can be employed in the life of the Muslim in a more fruitful way. In times when the genre of self-help is very much needed, Maryam has imparted a great gem to the Muslim community by integrating Islamic criteria to further support our productivity in both religious and worldly affairs. The suggestions found in the book can help us move forward in our current life in the world and establish a strong cornerstone for the life that is to come. I thoroughly enjoyed the exercises that Maryam includes at the end of each chapter as well as the quotes of famous figures throughout the chapters. The quotes add good structure to the chapters, which are already constructed in a natural, graceful, and straightforward way. Moreover, the chapters, subsections, and paragraphs are arranged in a very logical order, as Kashmir Maryam’s ideas are designed and presented in a cohesive manner. She writes the book in an eloquent fashion and in a compassionate, personable tone. She truly has the Muslim community’s best interests at heart. Her book, InshAllah (God-willing), can be used a tool to create a transformation within us and in our outward actions. The Muslim Woman’s Manifesto: 10 Steps to Achieving Phenomenal Success, in Both Worlds is a must read for any Muslim wanting to initiate a change and become the person he/she desires to become.
I absolutely love this book! It has great message for everyone and May Allah swt reward you. My favorite chapter was chapter 6 “Make Yourself A Priority”. I spent years not caring for myself but caring for others, and that left me in a dark place. This chapter was just another reminder that this is what I should be doing, putting myself first!!
This book speaks about real life experiences and the true purpose of life and to try to get this message out there in spoken word Poetry. Such an inspirational book and motivational really exceed my expectations and may continue to bless this young talented girl and may she be a great motivation for the younger generation
This is one of the most powerful books I have come in contact with. Its words speak to the depth of me in a way my thoughts could not verbalize, this book does it in the most articulate way. In parts I had to stop for a moment and just think of what just hit me and with every line there is a wave that opens a whole new perspective. Never have I seen a book in its entirety written by human hands that my thoughts, body and soul seem to answer too. I have read many books and have appreciation for many more but this book by far has reached a completely different level of respect from me. Originality, eloquence, insight, wisdom, knowledge, experience, rational proofs and overall a phenomenal piece of work, art and life in the form of a book. This is not only a read for me, it is a manual that guides me to a bigger perspective beyond just words, it speaks for us to act and change the world but first we must change ourselves. I am waiting for part two.
